Kick off the holidays by hopping on the Polar Express at the Bowling Green Holiday Parade on November 23, 2019! The theme for this year’s parade is Polar Express: Next Stop Bowling Green. The parade will step off at 9:45am on Saturday, with the first float reaching the corner of Main and Wooster Streets at 10am. Main viewing areas for the parade are between Ridge and Washington Street.

This year’s grand marshal will be Mayor Richard Edwards with the organizers of Firefly Nights Festival (Stacie Banfield of Mode Elle Boutique, Kati Thompson of Eden Fashion Boutique, Gayle Walterbach of Coyote Beads, and Laura Wicks of Grounds for Thought) being honorary marshals.

WTOL Channel 11 will be broadcasting the parade live in a 2 hour commercial free production. Retired WTOL anchor and Bowling Green native, Jerry Anderson and current weatherman and Bowling Green native, Ryan Wichman will be our commentators for this year. While reporter and BGSU graduate, Amy Steigerwald will be our roving reporter.

The 2019 Annual Bowling Green Holiday Parade is brought to you by the following presenting sponsors: City of Bowling Green, Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Bowling Green Convention and Visitors Bureau, Bowling Green State University, and Downtown Bowling Green.

Road Closures

Main Street, from Poe to Napoleon Road, and Wooster Street, from Prospect to Church Street, will be closed from 9:30am until the end of the parade. These closures will affect the flow of traffic on all streets. The sides streets will also be closed starting at 9am. In addition to these closures, the side streets between Poe and Ridge will be closed for parade preparations starting at 8am until around 11am. During this time, access to these streets will be limited to local use. Truck detour routes will be posted. All streets will reopen after parade clean up is completed.

Parking

Before and during the parade, on-street parking on Main Street between Pearl and Ridge Streets is prohibited. Vehicles should be removed from Main Street before 3am on Saturday. Any vehicle on the street after 3am will be towed at the owners expense. On-street parking will also be prohibited on Dixie Avenue between S. Main and Kenwood, S. Church between Sand Ridge and Pearl, Clay Street between N. Church and N. Grove, and N. Grove between Wooster and Poe. Parking will be reinstated after parade clean up is completed.
