A cherished community function, the Black Swamp Arts Festival (BSAF) is a free arts and live music festival like no other held the first full weekend after Labor Day. BSAF offers three days of free concerts and fine arts shows in the historic ambiance of downtown Bowling Green, and this year’s festival is scheduled for September 6-8, 2024. From excellent food and sweet treats to incredible artwork and entertainment, you won’t want to miss out on the Black Swamp Arts Festival.

Did you know that the Black Swamp Arts Festival is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers? And admission is completely free? That’s right! Not only is BSAF an extraordinary community event, but it is not ticketed, which means anyone can come enjoy the festival free of charge! All the more reason to spend your weekend at BSAF! Take a night out with your friends/family, and you will have an amazing time celebrating the creativity and artistic passions that the festival brings to the Bowling Green community.

Food trucks are located next to the Main Stage behind the East side of the street, and there are a diversity of delectable options available. In past years, the festival has featured J&K Sirloin Tips, Kabob It!, Eric’s Ice Cream, Pisanello’s Pizza, Detroit Mini Donut, and so many more local eateries. A plethora of mouth-watering flavors await you at BSAF!

In addition to the unbeatable food, one-of-a-kind artwork can be found at the Black Swamp Arts Festival. At BSAF, there are numerous art shows and interactive experiences that can be enjoyed by folks of all ages. The Juried Art Show and the Wood County Invitational Art Show are the festival’s main exhibitions of art, and you can also count on a fun time for the kids through youth and teen artistic activities. The Kiwanis Youth Arts Village offers a variety of youth arts projects, such as wood sculptures and painting, printmaking, and tie dye. As for teen arts, the BG Rotary Chalk Walk displays chalk murals created by young artists, along with an impressive showcasing of different vocal ensemble groups, called “Beats on the Street.” From admiring the exceptional artwork and enjoying the talented music performances, you will never be bored at BSAF, and the kids will be entertained at all times!
