Goodbye winter, hello spring! Springtime means warm weather, flowers blooming, and new experiences. Warm weather approaching means it’s time to brainstorm all of the ways we can enjoy the new season. Here’s some of the city’s hot spots for everyone to enjoy!
Enjoy the blooming flowers
Simpson Garden Park is the perfect place to enjoy all of the beautiful blooming the city has to offer. The park is made up of 13 unique gardens focusing on things like peace, healing, children’s discovery, and more. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a stroll through Bowling Green’s very own Eden.
Go for a hike
Are you looking to immerse yourself in nature? If so, Wintergarden/St. John’s Nature Preserve is the place for you! Start at the Rotary Nature Center, choose any of the four walking or hiking trail options that best fits your needs, and enjoy the scenery.
Visit a traditional family park
Looking for a way to get out of the house as a family? City Park provides the perfect conditions for a family cookout: shelters, a playground, and outdoor grills. You can also have fun with their skatepark, basketball courts, softball field, and in-line skating rink!
Go biking
If you’re into biking, Slippery Elm Trail is the place for you; it’s 13 miles of asphalt trail from Bowling Green to North Baltimore. Even if biking isn’t for you, you can walk or in-line skate along this scenic route.
Try disc golf
If you’re looking to try something new this spring, Carter Park has a free 18-hole disc golf course waiting for you. Carter park also has sand volleyball courts, a softball complex, a playground, and some shelters to rent.
Stay active, even on rainy days
Spring brings its fair share of rainy days that make us all say ugh. Bowling Green Training & Community Center is the perfect place to be active and have some fun if the weather is not cooperating. Enjoy the center’s gym and fitness room, track, exercise classes, and kids corner!
Other fun rainy day activities
Still looking for something to fill those rainy days? Try Al-Mar Lanes, a local bowling alley perfect for family entertainment and parties; it even has a sports bar. If bowling isn’t for you, see a movie at Cinemark Cinemas 5 in Woodland Mall which even has discount Tuesdays!
