Bowling Green is already known for community spirit and creativity, and now, Visit BG Ohio has been recognized too! We’re thrilled to announce that Visit BG Ohio won a Citation of Excellence (2nd-place) in the “Best New Experience” category for BG 4×4 Fest at the 2025 Ohio Conference on Travel.
The award was presented at the prestigious RUBY Awards luncheon on October 2 at The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake, part of the statewide conference celebrating tourism excellence. This year’s competition was fierce, with a record 241 entries across 17 categories.
“This event represents the heart of Bowling Green – fun, community pride, and future-focused investment. We’re honored to have these efforts recognized on a statewide level,” said Mary Hinkelman, Executive Director of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and Visit BG Ohio.
The inaugural BG 4×4 Fest drew over 1,750 attendees, delivered an estimated $250,000+ in economic impact, and raised funds to support four scholarships for students heading into agriculture and the skilled trades.
“It was amazing to see our community and local organizations come together to create such a fun, family-filled day for the greater good of Bowling Green,” said Rachael London of Thayer Family Dealers & Local Drive. “This event wouldn’t have been possible without that teamwork.”
The award entry was led by Brandee Brossart, Marketing and Engagement Lead for Visit BG Ohio, with assistance from the BG 4×4 Fest team and key community partners:
Rachael London — Thayer Family Dealers & Local Drive
Kris Henninger — Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association
Bryce Hamilton — Thayer Family Dealers
Amanda Barndt — Truland Equipment
Laura Westgate — Wood County Fairgrounds
Mary Hinkelman — BG Chamber of Commerce / Visit BG Ohio
This win is more than an award, it validates the creativity, collaboration, and passion behind our efforts to build unique experiences in Bowling Green. We’re so proud to represent our community on the state stage.
As we look ahead to future events, we hope 4×4 Fest continues to evolve and energize visitors, students, and supporters alike. Stay tuned to Visit BG Ohio’s site and social channels for updates on next year’s festival, and all the ways we’re working to shine a spotlight on BG.
