The week of May 3rd – 9th is National Travel and Tourism Week! During this very unprecedented time, the U.S. Travel Association is having a Virtual Road Trip around all 50 states to celebrate travel and tourism. The Road Trip stops in Ohio at 11:30a, but you can celebrate by letting everyone know your favorite Ohio (and Bowling Green) spots all day long by posting to social media and using the hashtags #nttw20 and #VirtualRoadTrip. Here are some great ways you can celebrate Travel and Tourism Week Virtually!

“Visit” the Wood County Historical Center and Museum
Bowling Green has no shortage of museums. The Wood County Historical Center and Museum hones in on Wood County’s history in a unique atmosphere. Housed on the site of what used to be the Wood County Poor Farm, the museum hosts self-guided tours, exhibits, and public events. Its current exhibit “Utopia: A Visual Storytelling of Our Home” as well as “A Clean Bill of Health” and “Chasing the White Rabbit” are all available as a virtual tour through their website. You can also check out their guide of the arboretum. Go to woodcountyhistory.org to take your tour!

Grab a Beer To-Go
Bowling Green has great breweries where you can wet your whistle and they’re all offering growler fills! Try out a seltzer or ale from Arlyn’s Good Beer, or try a mixed pack from Aistear Brewing. You can also stop out to BG Beverage Center. Their Ohio Wine and Craft Beer sections have Ohio staples like Great Lakes Brewing, Rhinegeist, Sam Adams, and much more!

Enjoy the Scenery in the Parks
“We put the GREEN in Bowling Green.” Social distancing still allows you to go for a walk outside! Our parks are green for miles and provide so much beauty to our city. Stroll through Simpson Garden Park and see the blooming daylilies, spot white tailed deer and large white trilliums at Wintergarden Nature Preserve, or just enjoy the fresh air!

Enjoy a Game with Rock Em Sock Em Retro
Bowling Green’s retro video game store has taken to Twitch to promote social distancing while helping stave boredom. You can participate and play right along with them. They’ve done games like Jackbox, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. Keep up to date with their Twitch schedule by clicking here.

Shop Local
Many shops and restaurants have adopted curbside pickups or delivery options. Shops like For Keeps have been surprising customers with mystery boxes. Eden Fashion Boutique, Mode Elle Boutique, and Coyote Beads have put together cute bundles including some customer favorites. Myla Marcus Winery has been delivering wine. You can even get a robot to deliver food to you if you order from a BGSU restaurant! The possibilities are endless!

Participate in Virtual Events
Bowling Green’s Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Downtown BG SID, and Economic Development are hosting many virtual events to promote our businesses while still having fun during our warmer months. Check out the list of events by clicking here.
